Paragon Station Project
So we’ve been given our full year client project for interactive environments like the 2nd year students last year did. For their client project they recreated trinity church and some of the surrounding area as it would of looked during medieval times, it was really impressive so it is important to do just as well with our project or even better. Our theme for the project is to mark the 100 year anniversary of world war 1, so we are recreating paragon station and the surrounding area around 1914, it’s a really interesting project and I’m looking forward to building it.
After we was given the brief we decided to start by printing off some satellite view maps of the area and mark out how big of an area we are planning on modelling, the map is as followed..
The area obviously covers paragon station as it is the focal point of the project, it also covers some of Anlaby road and Ferensway with paragon square in view but not necessarily accessible. From there we split into 4 groups of 4 to start our research, our group had the task of researching Ferensway so we went there to look at some of the buildings on the street and try to find some date’s of construction and the general layout. After this we ended up at the hull history center where we found many books with lots of reference images around the correct time which was very useful. We didn’t stay too long so will need to go back and have a better search to get a good understanding of what was in the area at that time and will post my findings and images.
Something I thought was really cool that we found is that Anlaby road had a tram line down it with open top trams, which would be good to include from a gameplay aspect, would be even better to have one moving on a loop.
I imagine they would of looked something like the tram above but this one is from Preston.
